Trade FAQ & Answers

What ICUMSA grades of Thailand sugar does Universal Food Feed supply?

We supply ICUMSA 45 white refined sugar (the premium export grade used in food manufacturing) and ICUMSA 100–600 raw sugar (used in refining and industrial applications). Custom grades are available subject to mill capability and quantity.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimum 25 MT for bagged sugar (50kg PP bags). We accommodate both container-load (FCL) and bulk vessel orders.

Is the sugar Halal certified?

Yes. All Thailand sugar supplied by Universal Food Feed is sourced from Halal-certified mills with JAKIM-recognised Halal certificates, meeting requirements of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Middle Eastern buyers.

What documentation is provided with each shipment?

Certificate of Origin, SGS/Intertek quality inspection, Halal certificate, Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, and Packing List.

Can Universal Food Feed supply CIF?

Yes — Universal Food Feed arranges CIF pricing. Provide destination port and required delivery month for a CIF quote.

How does Thai ICUMSA 45 compare to Brazilian on landed cost?

For SE Asian and Middle Eastern buyers, the shorter freight distance from Thailand typically offsets any small FOB price premium versus Brazilian white sugar.

What payment terms are available?

Standard is L/C at sight or TT (30% advance, 70% on BL copy). Established buyers may qualify for deferred payment terms — contact us to discuss.

Trade FAQ & Answers

Is Indian soybean meal genuinely non-GMO?

Yes — India does not permit commercial cultivation of GM soybean. All Indian-origin SBM is non-GMO by default. Universal Food Feed provides non-GMO declarations from the originating crushing plant. Third-party PCR test results confirming non-GM status can be arranged on request.

What protein grades are available?

Grades ranging from 46% to 52% protein are available. Protein is guaranteed on a dry-matter basis with Surveyor inspection at load port.

Does Indian SBM meet EU feed safety standards?

Yes. Complies with EU Regulation (EC) No 767/2009. Aflatoxin levels below 10 ppb confirmed by pre-shipment inspection. Full COA and phytosanitary certificate provided with every shipment.

What is the difference between soybean meal and soybean flake?

Soybean meal is the ground product after solvent extraction — standard form for animal feed. Soybean flake is the toasted, defatted product in flat form used in food-grade applications including tofu, TVP, and food manufacturing. UFF supplies both — specify your required form when enquiring.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

Minimum order is 25 MT per FCL 20ft container (bagged). Lead time is typically 14–21 days from order confirmation to FOB load port. Transit: SE Asia 7–14 days; Europe 18–22 days; Japan/Korea 14–20 days.

What certifications can UFF provide for Indian SBM?

Standard pack: Halal certificate, FSSAI export registration, non-GMO declaration from crushing plant, Surveyor weight & quality certificate, phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin (Form A for EU GSP). PCR test and organic certificate available on request.

Does Indian SBM qualify for preferential EU import tariffs?

Yes. Indian SBM benefits from EU GSP (Generalised Scheme of Preferences) and the standard EU MFN tariff rate is 0% for soybean meal (HS 2304). No anti-dumping duties apply to Indian origin. Subject to changes of regulations.

Trade FAQ & Answers

What is the difference between feed grade and fermentation grade molasses?

Feed grade molasses (Brix 79.5° min) is used as a palatability enhancer and energy source in compound animal feed pellets. Fermentation grade meets additional purity requirements including lower SO₂ content (<200 ppm, or <100 ppm for spirits), consistent Brix and tighter ash limits for distillery, ethanol, and industrial fermentation use. UFF supplies both grades.

Can Universal Food Feed supply molasses for rum and spirits production?

Yes — sugarcane molasses is the traditional feedstock for rum and cane spirits. UFF can supply fermentation-grade molasses with low SO₂ (<100 ppm on request) suited for spirits production. Detailed COA provided with each shipment.

How is molasses transported?

Molasses is a viscous liquid shipped in ISO tank containers (24 MT per tank), flexitanks in 20ft containers (approx. 24 MT), or bulk liquid tanker vessels for orders of 1,000 MT+. Heating may be required at discharge in cooler climates. UFF advises on heating requirements based on destination and season.

What certifications are available?

Standard documentation: Certificate of Origin, SGS/Intertek quality inspection, Certificate of Analysis, Halal certificate (Malaysian mills), Phytosanitary certificate, Bill of Lading. For Japanese buyers: detailed composition analysis and pesticide residue report can be arranged.

What is the typical FOB price for SE Asian molasses?

Malaysia molasses FOB Port Klang is approximately USD 125–145/MT for feed grade and USD 145–175/MT for fermentation grade (May 2026). Japan and South Korea CIF buyers should add USD 45–65/MT freight for ISO tank orders. Prices fluctuate with regional sugar production and ethanol demand.

Is Malaysian molasses Halal certified?

Yes. Sugarcane molasses from Malaysian mills — processing sugarcane only, with no animal-derived inputs — is inherently Halal. UFF provides Halal certificates from JAKIM-recognised certifying bodies on request.

What is the minimum order?

Minimum 24 MT per ISO tank container. Standard commercial orders from 200 MT (flexitank). Bulk vessel orders from 1,000 MT for high-volume buyers.

Trade FAQ & Answers

Why do Japanese and Chinese tofu manufacturers specifically request Canadian soybeans?

Canadian soybeans — particularly varieties grown in Ontario and Manitoba — have long been recognised for high tofu yield performance due to their protein and lipid composition. The combination of food-grade variety selection, IP non-GMO certification, and consistent CFIA-audited quality gives Canadian origin an unrivalled reputation in Asian tofu and soy food manufacturing. Japanese buyers in particular treat Canadian No. 1 grade as the reference standard.

Is Canadian soybean genuinely non-GMO?

Canada grows both GM and non-GMO soybean varieties. We supply exclusively IP (Identity Preserved) non-GMO Canadian soybeans, which are segregated at farm, elevator, and export level with chain-of-custody documentation. This is a formal, audited process — not a general claim. Non-GMO PCR test certificates are available on request from CFIA-approved laboratories.

What is the minimum order and lead time from Canada?

Minimum 25 MT per FCL 20ft container (bagged). Lead time from order confirmation to FOB Saint Lawrence or Vancouver is typically 21–30 days (subject to crop season and vessel schedule). Transit to Japan: approximately 14–18 days; to China: 12–16 days; to Middle East: 25–30 days.

Can Universal Food Feed supply specific soybean varieties requested by tofu manufacturers?

Yes — specific variety requests (e.g. OAC Wallace, Harovinton) can be accommodated subject to availability and minimum volume. Specific varieties require IP segregation.
